Deeper sound

I got a 2.5 yj and i want a little deeper sound than i got would glasspacks do or a new muffler or what ?

Something with a bigger engine? I have a 4 banger also and I won't waste my time. Good Luck and let me know if you find a way to make it sound Boss. Later, KJ

I tried a Flowmaster and it was too loud, and not that deep. Gave a nice cackle when backing off the throttle when wheelin.

I now run an OEM type muffler with no converter, and it's 'set off car alarms' deep and mellow. Talking to another 2.5L jeeper with no catalytic converter, sounds like the deep tone is a no-cat jeepthing.

Looe the cat converter and add a series 40 flowmaster and it will be loud but sound real good. IMHO tug

I've got a glass pack on my 6 cylinder. It sounded fine at first, but as it gets miles on it the sound is going from decent to obnoxious. I'll be putting on a Flowmaster as soon as I can make the time to do so. I imagine the 4 cylinder wouldn't do any better.

go flowmaster if you must but you really need to wrap your head around the fact that only "V's" will sound good - posted on another thread how my bud tried to sound up his old I-6 maverick and it always ended up sounding like a garbage truck - the best you'll end up with is the sound of those rice grinding hot air popcorn "fast and furious" things... spend your money where it counts... looks and capabilities... just my $.02

I have no cat and no muffler (got ripped off on the trail). I also have no backpressure. When I rebuild I have a 40 series to go on

Flowmaster makes a lonf skinny muffler that's supposed to make a mellow "50's tone." I've never heard it, but from what I hear it's supposed to be quiet and mean. This may very well be the 40 series, I don't remember.

EDIT : *visits flowmaster website* These "Hushpower II" mufflers may have been what I was thinking about, but it sounds like what we're all looking for, quiet and mean.

Before my glass pack burned out, I would equate the sound of mine as being like a very mad, loud bumble bee. Definitely not a V8 sound. The 4 cylinder would probably come out more like a mad, loud house fly.
