distributor install

Can someone tell me the correct way to install a distributor in my 78 304 ?
I have the motor at top dead center.Ive done chevy's but never jeep amc.
Where should rotor point ?

Also I have alot of extra parts to get rid of,(raising money for a set of 33x15.50x15 swampers)
4.2 engine
t4 transmission
t5 transmission (broke-havent had time to check problem)(has new input shaft and syncros ,bearings,seals)
dana 300
guages
new rough country shocks 0-4 inch lift
webber carb
15x8 are saw blades w/ 32x11.50x15 all terrains
tons of misc stuff
all parts in sc
Ill take a grand for everything

The rotor should point at the number one cylinder contact on the cap.

it can only go in two ways. Right or 180 degrees off. Put the rotor just before the number one point like Od said and drop it in. Move it alittle if need be to get the slot on the bottom to catch. Then you just need to adjust the timing after you get it started.
