With tea bags? How many do you use? I found out real quickly that one tea bag was nowhere near strong enough, I think I've settled on three. Using Lipton family size bags.

3 family sized tea bags for 1-gallon 1 1/4 cup sugar

I find it to be trial and error depending on the brand and type of tea used.

Some leaves release their flavors more easily than others.

yeah, I'll agree, Don Meridith had it right!

No sunshine for me! Southern sweet tea needs to be boiled, with several tea bags and lots of sugar. Boiling it allows for a super-saturation of sugar and tea. The result is strong sweet southern style tea like Grandma used to make . A slice of fresh lemon hanging on the side of the glass after being broken (gently squeezed) adds just the right finishing touch.

Serve with lots of ice too ;)
