That sure sounds like a good deal to me...you could probably get that much if you can't get it to work & had to scrap it.
As far as info try weldingweb.com

sounds like a diesel generated stand alone welder. Not overly farmilar with P and H, pics would definately help.

no it plugs in to the wall

Found this on the P&H Mining Eqpt. web site:
Looking for parts or service for a P&H welding machine?

P&H sold its arc welding machine business in 1968. Chemetron, the company that purchased the line at that time, has discontinued the business. Please contact a local or regional supplier of welding equipment and service support for assistance in maintaining or repairing your P&H arc welding equipment.

Not good news, but at least you know it's pre 1968 and it's pro-level eqpt.
When you're not using it you can leave it in the living room as a conversation piece;)....It really does look cool!!

that things a dinosaur , prob could resell it on ebay for like 10x that
who knows may be worth something do some home work on it
one just never knows
what is the manufacturers date
looking at it I say late 40s early 50s but I'm guessing:D

Heck, if you do decide to put it in your living room, just invite the people you dont like too much and let them sit on the chair close to it and clamp it on their buttocks and feed them the stick. :shades:

i cant find a year on it i found a serial number tho as far as i can tell its oldddddd as dirt lol the guy i baught it from had it for 45 years and he got it from a guy that couldnt even remember when he got it but he baought it used

It runs off of 220 I'm assuming? If it goes up to 400 amps you can run just about anything you want with it. A 1/8th 60 series rod runs between 80-100 amps depending on the person and what you're doin. It should run tig also just switch your polarity. Stick runs electrode positive tig runs electrode negative.

The machine I use all day

You should be able to do just about anything with it . Body work is hard with stick bit like frame and that kind of stuff is pretty simple. Just depends on what you want to do
