electric fan

does anybody know if the ectric fan out of a 6cyl Ford taurus is a direct bolt in onto the rad. i ask this cause i know these are popular electric fans to swap into jeep yj and tj's. thanks

there will be some minor mods needed.. such as drilling holes for mounting, but otherwise, it fits great

the year to look for is 91-95 ford tarus. 6cylinder.

how are these fans hooked up? is the wireing done seperatly or does it somehow hook into the jeeps wire harness?

Seperate wiring, no provisions for an electric fan in a stock YJ harness.

Look how much room an electric fan saves on the 4banger, you can actually stand on the axle to work on the motor.

Bounty,

How does it work with the thermostat? Or does it? I mean, does it know when to cut on and when to cut off, or do you control that? Do you basically let it run all the time, except thru water crossings?

yea bounty how do u have it hooked to the thermostat? is there a thermostatic switch that u put in with the fan? or just ur own on off switch?

WTB YJ Door panels. Interior full steel

you can find a switched ignition power to run a fused relay to run the fan from direct 12v power when the key is on

I run an adjustible thermostat with a switch inline with the switched 12v going to the fan relay, to turn it off for water crossings. The fan now runs only if the switch is on, the jeep ignition is on, and it's hot enough to need the fan.

You can mount the thermostat sending unit anywhere, mine's behind the radiator where the fan won't hit it. The actual adjustible thermostat is mounted to the top of the fenderwell.

You have a wiring schematic???

I can wrench the crap out of just about anything, but electricity makes my head spin...

No schematic, and I'm no wiring genius, but it's pretty simple.

If you'v ever wired a relay for offroad lights, it works the same way. The parts-store fan I used came with instructions for the thermostat.

I recommend an OEM fan like the Taurus, they last a LOT longer than a universal aftermarket fan.
