I have just purchased my first Jeep....It's a 2001 TJ. I have always owned, built ,restored Toyota Land Cruisers and Suzukis. I have a question that I know that someone here can help me with.

"What is the PROPER operating temperature for a 4.0 engine. I haven't had mine off-road yet but it runs at 210 degrees. That seems high to me. Most of the various other vehicles I have owned or built operated below 200 degrees....can someone help me with this?

200-210 degree's is normal operating temp.

I have a YJ, but my club is mostly TJ's, and they all seam to have a issue with over heating, andit is lmost always the fan clutch that is the culprit, gets all clogged up with mud.

RE: 15" wheels on discs made for 16" wheels

Mine runs right at 210 also. I have an '01 and I pull a fairly big, loaded box trailer up the mountain all summer long and it never get's above that. In fact I've never eve had the radiator cap off mine and I've had it since it was new.
