engine swap advice

I have a 1979 wagoneer it has 360 engine and turbo hydromatic 400 transmission I have got a rod i think started knocking tonight it sound in top of engine but it sounds really nasty.so i'm guessing rod though so does anyone know or have any advice about bolting a different motor in it i have access to a 318 or 360 mopar what would it take to put this engine in my old jeep. not alot of money to deal with so looking for cheaper way to get her running

why dont you take it apart before you decide to drop a diffrent motor in it. it could cost more to drop the other motor in it.

its probobly a rod bearing, not cool, not cool at all.

I think the Chrysler v8's have a different bellhousing bolt pattern, not a direct swap. Stick with the AMC 304, 360, or 401. Go all out with the 401 if you want a sweet upgrade.
