Engine wants to stall when starting

Before my engine is warmed up it struggles to get gas I think, it sputters real bad and I have to give it gas, it won't stall out completely but it definitely struggles. It's a 97 5speed Tj w a 4.0 anyone else ever have this problem and have an answer for what repair il be doing in the near future? Thanks in advance

So it runs rough cold. Does it smooth out once warmed up? If so and it were a carbed engine I would say your chokes not working. These newer ones are computer controled so I couldnt tell ya. I would think your computer is telling something thats like a choke to work and its not.

Yea it usually does it right before I leave for work before its warmed up I guess il just have to ride it out and see how this works for me. Thanks

sounds like the IAC (idle air control) valve is not working properly. That is what acts as the choke from the old carb days.

It's only a 50 dollar part il more than likely be ordering it Friday if I notice it keep happening. Thanks for the help!!
