Factory bumper

I was a little surprised with the strength of the factory bumper.I hit a deer today,it did little damage to the bumper and some damage to the fender.I was going about 50 MPH when it jumped over the guard rail.Worse damage was it broke my KC light on the bumper.Fender was easy to beat out.What type of force would it take to set off the air bag?

It's not really the force of the hit, but where it hits on the vehicle. I have been around bodyshops for a few years and saw some pretty nasty hits where the air bags didn't deploy. The hit just has to be able to push against one of the sensors for the bags to deploy. Kinda scary, but that's the way it is.
