Fender coverage?

Anyone know how far your tires can stick out beyond the fenders in NY and CT?:???:

My friend from NY says that the outside sidewall of the tire cannot exceed the fender flare. So basically, to run wider tires, you need to get wider fender flares and they need to come out to the exact width of the tire. He said he doesn't know about CT.

New York has NO regs concerning flares covering tires on non-commercial vehicles. You must have side marker lights but that's it. Amazing, but true considering New York is such a nanny state; check the Motor Vehicle statutes and see for yourself!
