Flush Mounttail lights.

I just ordered diamond plate wrap around corners for my Jeep and they don't have the holes cut out.

This would be a good time to put the flush mount tail lights in.

Does anyone have a good source to get the flush mount tail lights that are DOT approved?

Also, does anyone that has done this have any installation advice?

Thanks,

Mike

Sorry, I meant Flush Mount Tail Lights.

It sucks being a fast typer that doesn't have the skill to be a fast typer.

When I do mine I'm going to get them from the local truck stop or Gary Scelzi's (http://www.seinc.com) is here in town and he sells them for the truck bodys they build. Also, try the ACME catalog. I saw some in there that aren't completely flush, but they're round & LED. PLus, they have a built in back up light. They also sell license plate LED lites too. You'll probably have to have it lit to stay legal.

Here's a page that a guy did a real good write-up about the install process. Remember you'll have to modify the signal controller if you go with LED lights because they draw less current and make the OEM controller think the light is burnt out.

yea... go to a truck stop - you can get the lights, gaskets and pigtails you need - you'll have to cut/slpice the wiring in but thats no big deal - just make sure to waterproof the connections! - also make sure your flasher relay will work with them as they dont draw the current a normal light does - you'll need to do a HD relay or other mod to make them flash... you'll like em once they work.... also - make sure you buy the ones that fit "standard" plugs for truck/trailer - there are two different styles out there and the one that isn't standard will go away eventually (if not already) - one of the best and easiest upgrades to do! g'luck!

Just my 2 bits. I don't particularly like flush-mounts, but to each their own. LV's comment about upgrading your flasher only applies to LED lights. If you get trailer lights for your tails that are regular bulbs, you won't need to worry about the flashing rate.

In my opinion, if you're going to go flush mounts, you might as well get LEDs, so you'll need a heavy duty flasher installed. If you don't get one, the lights will probably work, but they will blink faster than normal (since there's lower resistance in the circuit) similar to the import cars you see with very fast blinkers.

Hey Guys, thanks for the info. This was my first posting on this site andthe response is appreaciated.

i'm kind of old school and i really hate being behing a car with LED runing or stop lights. When I move my eyes around I see "trails" from the damn LED's.

Maybe it's my screwey brain or the remnents from the 70's, but either way I'm thinking of good old tail lights with bulbs in them.
