Freezing Carb.

'80 CJ-5, 258, Weber carb, new PCV valve. When I start it up after its cold, the choke engages, and then the carb starts to develop a film of ice on the outside and inside. Then chunks of ice fall into the intake causing poor idle. Thanks for the help.

A block heater helps a bit with this problem, but not much.

The best solution is to use a gas line antifreze to keep the ice from forming on the choke plate.

When i get this problem, i just pop the clips on the air filter and manually move the choke plate until its loosened up a bit.
 
Or you can move to Florida like I did. Then the only thing that gets stuck in the carb is some blue hair. Damn old ppl.
