Front license plate installation?

I just moved to Texas and got my new plates. Does anyone have any advice on how to mount the front one? I don't want to pay for it to be installed if I can just buy the hardware myself. Also, what is the best place and way to put it on? I can see no other way than to screw it in my front bumper but I don't really want to do that as I did it on my truck got 6 holes after multiple tries.

I forgot to mention that Texas makes you have two plates. Obviously my jeep didn't come with the hardware to put the front plate on. They do allow you to have it inside the windshield but I usually have the top off and don't want it to fly out.

If you still have the factory front bumper, look at the mid section of the bumper and there should be a couple of dimples where the license screws are supposed to be drilled thru..Where in Texas are you?

Harlingen Texas. I never even bothered to look as the last vehicle I had was a 98 dodge dakota and I had to force screws into the front bumper. But yeah they do have 2 small dimples. I'll look into getting the frame for it tomorrow. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Your jeep looks insane. I would love to take that out to South Padre Island and hit the sand dunes.

This is my jeep. Stock at the moment but I want to make some mods.

Thanks. Its called red rock and I was going to go with silver before I saw this one in the showroom and couldn't say no. I have yet to see anyone else with the same color, but then again, jeeps aren't as popular where I live.

I have an 02 wrangler with a stock bumper and used wall mollies to mount my front license plate directly in the center of my bumper with pre-existing holes. I used to have it on the left side of the bumper, but in Lubbock, TX when it rains it floods, and the water from my tires would bend the plate completely out at a 90 degree angle.

I think i'll put it in the middle as well. I still haven't gotten around to it and hopefully won't get stopped for it before I put it on.

I finally gave in and screwed my license plate on with self tapping screws. I used to have it on the inside of my windshield but my brother got pulled over for speeding and got a ticket for having his in the same place so I just gave in. I screwed it from the bottom because I didn't want it too low and only put 2 screws because I didn't want to make two extra holes. The plate itself barely fit between my lights so that's the only choice I had.

I thought so too. I guess the factory bumper was made just for the license plate itself. I bought a license plate frame and it didn't fit so I had return it and get my money back. I think it looks pretty good too, except for the crappy Texas plates they gave me.

HAHAHA I also dislike the new Texas plates. Luckily I still have the old style on mine.

I wish I could have got the old ones. Something off topic. I didn't think I would be able to log in on my iPhone. I'm on a trip right now and am glad I can still keep up with the forum.

Are you thinking of modding your jeep? I'm getting probably a 2 inch lift next month. Yours looks great in with all the wilderness

I live in a state where front plates are not required. . . . Beautiful Jeep there, real nice color and I like the hardtops these days.

As soon as I pay her off I will start adding...I really want a new front bumper and winch. I am sure something will have to be added to handle the extra weight. I am running the stock 18 wheels and 32 inch tires which right now is fine, wouldn't mind a little more aggresive tire but we'll see.

That wilderness is my driveway  I have to cut it back about twice a year!
