On the three wires from the body, do you know which is power to the oump and which is ground? I imagine black and red?
Unplug the pin that is supposed to be for the gage and just get the pump to work. Than you can plug the gage in.
If the gage still deflects backwards, their sender is hooked up backwards so you might be able to pull the pump and swap the sender wires, or send it back and tell them what you found is wrong and hope they send a good replacement

) I got this off the old pump and have removed one of the wires I am old, eyes kind of iffy on stuff like this but I was thinking if I remove the wires and put allegators clips on the other end I can go under there with the ignition in the on position and find the power wire with a simple screwdriver looking test light with the bulb in it because it is supposed to be 12 volt and knowing on the pump the power wire is black hook those two together with the jumper wire I created with these wires and then work the rest out. I am not sure if this a good idea, I am worried about blowing the relay or fuse which I found out is in the box by the battery (Does anyone make a replacement box for the fuses and relays on the inner wheel well by the battery?) the fuse is 2nd right to left and the relay is the second left to right?
