Fuel Gauge issue

On the three wires from the body, do you know which is power to the oump and which is ground? I imagine black and red?

Unplug the pin that is supposed to be for the gage and just get the pump to work. Than you can plug the gage in.

If the gage still deflects backwards, their sender is hooked up backwards so you might be able to pull the pump and swap the sender wires, or send it back and tell them what you found is wrong and hope they send a good replacement

So, you do not think it is the relay or fuse? I have been trying to find out what wire does what on the body harness but have not found that information. I had a thought (You should be scared 😱) I got this off the old pump and have removed one of the wires I am old, eyes kind of iffy on stuff like this but I was thinking if I remove the wires and put allegators clips on the other end I can go under there with the ignition in the on position and find the power wire with a simple screwdriver looking test light with the bulb in it because it is supposed to be 12 volt and knowing on the pump the power wire is black hook those two together with the jumper wire I created with these wires and then work the rest out. I am not sure if this a good idea, I am worried about blowing the relay or fuse which I found out is in the box by the battery (Does anyone make a replacement box for the fuses and relays on the inner wheel well by the battery?) the fuse is 2nd right to left and the relay is the second left to right?

My other thought is the manufacturer as I said wants me to pull the pump back out and return it to Amazon they said that even though the time to return it is over it can still be returned to them under the warranty. I would then buy another one (from someone else on Amazon, obviously)

I went on Amazon a short time ago and purchased another fuel pump assembly from it is a CARTER it should be here in two weeks. Is there any reason I cannot hook the pump to body harness to make sure the pump engages and move the float up and down to make sure the gauge is working properly before taking the Jeep the garage to be installed?

No, you can easily do that but its only going to come on for about a few seconds when the engine cranks and then it will stop.

But you can do the sender test

The pump comes on when you turn the key to the ON position and I can hear it run until it builds up pressure then stops which could have been a sign that the pump was losing pressure but on other forum post people talk about it being normal, in fact some of the forum posts recommend that you listen for the pump to shut off before starting the Jeep.

yes, if it doesn't shut off then you aren't getting enough fuel pressure, that is true
