Fuel guage short???

Today I was driving right after filling up and the fuel guage dropped to empty. I just went wheeling a few hours ago so could I have gotten water on something electric that would make it do that??

water, or even dust can get into the contacts behind the gauge and mess it up... take the cluster off and clean the contacts

its also possible that the fuel gauge sender in the tank decided to short....

Mine does random things like that at times too. But on mine I think it is the float assembly messing up :roll:
