Thanks for the info. It sounds a little more time consuming than I hoped, and at -10 degrees F, I'm thinking I might have to break down and take it into the garage.[addsig]

Its common on cherokees,You have to take off the transmission pan and replace the switch. If ur laying on your back looking up at the transmission its on the drivers side.They only cost 12 dollars and some change.Its simple to replace.

um, my gut feeling is to say that this is inaccurate, but i'm not 100 positive...



the switch is called the "neutral safety switch" which controls the reverse lights, and also doesn't let the starter turn over unless the shifter is in park (or neutral)... read this article it goes over the cleaning of the switch.
