Will a hard top off a 97 tj fit on a 2004?

The way I had to determine this was to get my local daeler to check my VIN# against the VIN# of the Jeep the top was going on. Is this an original equipment part or an after-market? That actually makes a difference too. My 2000 top fit a 2005 TJ recently.

I think there are small differences in the mounting locations, but I would look at a '97-'02 just to make sure. I'd imagine it's not enough difference that couldn't be made to work.
