Ok im gonna try and fix this one myself. I turn my heat or air on, and the fan does not blow at all. With the heat on i can barely feel a little heat coming out of the vents. I cant tear into this thing until next week, so i was hoping i could get a couple ideas of what to check first. if it helps, the cigarette lighter is out too, i dont know if its shorted or not grounded or what, I havent taken it apart yet. Thanks

What is the flavor of jeep you are working on?

Thanks for the info. There are a few things that go wrong whith the heater fans. First not to offend but you know you need to have air, heat or defrost selected for the fan to come on. Sounds like the resistor isn't the issue. If you only had high it would be the resistor. Next I would check the dash selector switch and wiring to the switch. Then the fan. Check these with a voltmeter to be sure you have power. Of you search this topis there are lots of threads on this topic.

ya i had my heat on with the fan, i can feel a faint bit of heat coming out, but no forced air at all. Thanks, i start back to law school this week, hopefully i have time to tear this apart

Ok cigarette lighter outlet works, it was the actually lighter that was bad, now i took apart the switch and put it back together and now the fan does work on high only. So youre saying its the resistor then?

There is two possibilities here, one is the fan resistor next to your fan motor, and the other, the most common is the grounds on your AC/Heater control switch. JP magazine covered this issue a few months ago. But you need to pull the switch and clean all the connectors. I had a similar problem, I tried replacing the fan resistor (the cheapest fix) no luck. Then tried to clean the switch housing. no luck either, so I just bought a replacement one from Autozone and plugged it in, and it worked, so I returned the resistor and kept the AC/heater switch.

If the fan does not work at all it's highly unlikely the resistor. The high setting is a short and should work if the other settings are burnt open.

What was happening was nothing was working at all, then when i jammed the switch on high it worked. Im picking up the fan switch for like 18 bucks and hoping thats it, if not Im gonna try the resistor. Thanks for the help
