Help? High Mount Stop lite -question

I have a 99 Wrangler Sahara.
I cannot find one person to agree with another on how to find the fix for this issue. Even the Jeep dealers can't help!

My Rear high-mount stop lite stopped working and I was advised to make sure the contact points on the tail gate and on the inside of the quarter were making contact. I was told to carefully pull them out so they touch when closing the tailgate. I did this everytime I opened the tailgate and I had a light. The problem is...one time I accidently pulled one of the contact point "out" of the quarter (inside the trunk but on the inner body of the quarter). It didn't seem like anything was attached to it, so I pushed it back in and made sure I was getting contact..like before. Well, now I have no lite.

I don't know how to get into this area as there is no access panel anywhere and I can't find a schematic to show me if I need to get in here.
Yes, I checked power to the lite and the bulb and the fuses...all working.

anyone?

If your getting power to the lite and the bulb is good, you should not have any problem, this said, you might check to see if you have a small wear spot on the wire. It could be making contact and grounding out the lite. I would start there.

If all else fails, take it to your local OlllllO dealer and beg for mercy...
