Help me decide

I have an opportunity to buy a Jeep. Please help me decide if this good or bad move. Here are the details:

95 Wrangler
4 cyl (yuck... but I am not buying this to do heavy 4 wheeling... just back and forth to work... and somehting to tinker with)
hard top / full doors
Does not need a pain job.... but will get one.
Detroit locker in the rear
5 speed
140,000 miles

Work done to it last week:
clutch
transmission
brakes all the way around
U Joint (dont know which one)
rear axle bearing and seal
front pinion seal
steering bearing
water pump

Questions:
1. This Jeep has oversized tires... wont this cause excess wear on the clutch and transmission?
2. What are some common problems with the 95's?
3. With the above given info.... is this a fair deal for $4000

Please respond with any thoughts. Thanks
Chubby Hubby

what do you consider "oversized" for tires?

if it is geared right, there are to be no worries about it being a 4 cyl.. they can do just as good offroad as us 6ers...

what was done to the transmission? replace?

if the clutch and transmission are new, and there is a detroit out back... that is worth a good chunk itself... it MAY be well worth the 4k

I believe its got 36" wheels on it now. Transmission was pulled off and rebuilt. Gears are 4.65 front and back. I did just find out that the oil pressure gauge is stuck on 85 though.

What are some common ailments that I should look for????

Extended Wrangler on order

yup thats a deal if iv ever heard of one, 36's, detroit, rebuilt trans, new clutch, brakes seals anda U-joint thats an awsome deal the trans detroit and brakes would cost you 4k just to buy and have them instaled

Sound like a decent deal if the motor is in good shape. Probably a good deal even if it is not! What kind of lift does it have to fit 36's???

Oh, and I gotta tell you, with that setup, you'll eventually change your mind about heavy offroading  !!!

I just cant seem to get over the fact that I think that a 4 banger cant hang off road.... It just aint right... There cant be enought torque.

Is the 4.65 gears in it going to give more power and torque????

it should be. i have heard that the 4 bangers run pretty good with the stock ratio of 4.10 and 33. you shouldnt have any trouble..and you can always swap in a 4.0 or 258 if you find that the 4banger is THAT underpowered.

Bad gas milage

I think you might be surprised. My 93 was setup the same way except I was still running the factory gears. Overdrive was useless, but it was really fun to drive otherwise. If you don't mind turning some RPMs and you keep it lightweight, this setup is killer in the mud.

Dome light issues

Dana44 in the rear. More and More... I think they are 33's on it.

As far as a commuter vehicle...... its going to get about 20 miles a day. maybe some trip to the beach and around on the weekends.
