Help... still post-lift vibration

Ok, I am running out of options. I just put on my 3.5" lift and installed 32x11.5 mud rovers. There is a vibration when I drive over 30. I had a professional alignment done. I also changed both rear u-joints today - both not getting rid of the vibration. I noticed that I do have a crack in my drivers side motor mount so I will be replacing that soon. Two notes: 1: the vibration did not exist before the lift 2:when I am driving it only seems to be during acceleration or holding down the gas that the vibration is present, when I push the clutch in and release the gas she sounds fine. Any other opinions??? This is driving me crazy and emptying my pockets. thanks. jered

Yes, the lift came with a t-case lowering kit. It is installed and drops the case about 2-3 inches. jered.

I just found some Rubicon Express steel 4degree shims online for around $30. Would those possibly help? jered

2-3 inches is QUITE a drop for a transfercase

you had it aligned you said. did you have 4 wheel alignment done. Check your Caster and Camber of front and rear Axles?

What club do you belong to?

A transfer case drop should be 1" max.

Did the lift springs come with degree wedges attached to the rear springs to point the rear pinion slightly up? If not you may need to do that.

Jared,

My 3.5" lift (92YJ) came with those shims and a xfer case drop kit (1"). In addition to installing those, and doing the bit with the adjustment screws on the bottom of the skidplate, I have Zero vibration.

The transfer case drop, did yours come with your kit? How long are the spacers between your skidplate and the frame? if they are truly 2-3" I would ditch them and get 1" spacers.

If your kit didn't come with the shims, then I would say definately install a set. 4 degree should be correct.

Definitely get the shims. Definitely measure your t-case spacers and chunk anything over 1". I just lifted my jeep 3 weeks ago and after the lift, I also had a busted driver's motor mount. When we replaced it, the vibes were gone. Just get a stock replacement. Maybe later, when the $ is right, you can get some 1" lift Bombproof motor mounts for $100/pair. Those are also said to help with vibes.

good luck

After my jeep, this is my next choice.....

We just orderer two 3.5" YJ lifts from Rusty's, I'll be installing them on my jeep and on a buddies in a few weeks. I don't expect any vibe issues, but we'll see.

Good news! I replaced the motor mounts this morning and the vibration is 75% gone! It is now quite driveable. There is still a little bit of vibration left around 35-50mph and I plan on installing some 4degree shims to remedy this. I did have the 4-wheel alignment done by a good 4wd shop. I may have them do the shims too because of my lack of time. thanks! jered
