Potential Mods to CJ-7...Recommendations?

Ok guys, so heres the deal... the carpet in my TJ stinks... bad... so i pulled the front two sections out cuz between the smell and how nasty and ratty they looked, i just couldnt handle it. The only problem is, not my floorboards are freakin hot and my feet dont care to much for that. Ive got some thick rubber floormats, but they dont seem to hlep much. I cant afford to line it right now either. So any suggestions for some decent insulation, or should i just put the carpet back in?

TIA

Nathan

People who own jeeps are_______

I cant afford rhinoliner!!! wish i could, but i cant right now..... and to tell you the truth tug, i cant really afford shoes either! :) im gettin ready to start college... so Vincennes University gets alll my money!

Throw an old scatter run in the floor driver side that you can steal from your folks ehheheehehe tug

hahaha... i think thats my only hope.... i reallly dont htink i could even get the carpet back in there if i wanted to... and im not so sure i want to....
To tell ya the truth i could probably scrape up the cash for the rhinolining, herculining, whatever... its just that i cant be without the jeep for a couple days to get it put in and let it cure..... and i dont have access to another vehicle...
O well...

Keep the ideas coming if yall got anymore.....

Nathan,

I pulled my carpets last week too. I know what you mean about hot. I just use the regular floor mats and they keep most the heat off but sometimes I have to hold my foot off the floorboard. LOL Not sure what to offer advice other than what the others already said! Sorry. Good luck in school, I graduate next Sunday for my associates. I'm going next fall for my bachelors.

You could weld a peice of sheet metal under your floor board.

Or if you are desperate, you could put a peice of ply wood on the floor. It will look ugly, but it will keep you cool.

you can put in an aluminum floorboard, so when you hit your NOS, it can fall off and make sparks

My friend bought some cheap bed lining in a can at O'rielys. Think it only cost about 20 bones with the brush. It only took a day to do 2 coats and it looks pretty nice. I would try that personally.

Just go down to the local carpet store, they usually sell squares of carpet the size of floor mats for like a dollar each.

I would just throw the carpet in the wash. When mine got a mildewy after one too many rain showers, I did that and it got the smell out and cleaned it up real nice
