How get MP3 interface onto year 2000 TJ ?

Currently has stock CD player.

Has anyone info. on a way to get an MP3 interface onto this system.
Does radio have 3.5mm or rca outputs in the back?
...any way to rig an output for MP3 player?

Also, how do you pull the radio on this vehicle...special tools ?

Thanks

I don't believe the stock radio has a 3.5mm jack, but most every other aftermarket radio made today does. You can get one for a good deal if you look around some, I paid about $80 for the last one I bought.

No special tools required to pull the radio, but the radio on my '05 TJ had a security bolt in back that was a massive PITA to get to. If I remember correctly, you'll need a small 10mm socket and a lot of patience.

In regards with the 10mm nut in the back of the radio, remove the glove box to facilitate an easier access. You can install an FM modulator , prefferably the hard wired version. I use the wireless one but seems to have static once in a while when driving in the city.

I used this one from Crutchfield

It's ok. You'll end up monkeying with your ipod when you should be driving though. I ended up spending $200 on a nice Pioneer head unit with built in ipod controls - it's much better. With an adapter or a 3.5 jack you won't be able to pause the ipod when you turn your Jeep off, or see track names, but with a nice head unit you'll be able to see them on the face.

I think I still have my adapter though, if you want it for $10. I plugs into the back of the stereo, where you would hookup the factory CD changer.

Here's a follow up.

I got a Scosche FMMOD02 Universal FM Modulator on ebay for $29.94, including shipping,

and

here's a link to how to install the Scosche unit through the glove box of a TJ,
without having to remove the radio.
