Lift kit? which brand to go with?

Some parts will be interchangable of course but you should be more specific as to what parts you want to change out.

BTW, welcome to Jeepz!

Re: Dynomax mufflers?

thank you

well i am really lookin to just have it for sapre parts it still runs and is in good shape. What i want off it is the whole clutch assemblyand i was wanting to checkout the trans. and also just little things, it has a brand new suspension lift/hardtop/doors/and other bits and peices. My 94 is having a few issuses so i thought it would be good to have a spare on hand and i guess even if they dont peice together, any one have any opions on the 1988 jeep????

RE: Lift kit? which brand to go with?

sell the one you dont want, save ur money for important maintenence items on the nice one. (or lift, tires, etc...)

the answer would be yes..and no..the 88' transmission is probably the shity peugeot, and the clutch uses an crappy all in one slave cylinder and release bearing, and the bell housing does not have the opening for the cps required for FI. Plus the transfercase might be the 207 with the smaller splines. Besides the engine and transmission, the rest of the jeep is the same. In fact half the tj's are the same too...........

RE: New socks and shoes for the Jeep

right on thank you that helps alot
i will have to think about what i want to do alittle more i guess, thanks again for the advice and help
if anyone else has anyhtng else to add please do
it is nice to have joined a JEEP site where people actuall respond thanks

I don't think the 207 was available in 88. It was a one year only thing in 87.
Didn't all of the manual shift YJs have the smaller 21 spline setup until 90?

Which engines do they have? Both 6 cylinder?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Jeepy!!!

they are both 6, i am not sure on the 207...
i will find out more specs on the 88 this week, i am going to tes drive it and put it up on a lift and check it out. i am sure i will have more ???'s and need some more help.

hey another quick question anyone know a good place to buy lifts from at a discount?? for the 1994

RE: new motor

The 207 was only in the '88, and the Peugeot was used until mid-year '89. It's not as bad a transmission as many will lead you to beleive, mine held up fine behind a built 350.

There's likely a difference in the transfer case input splines, so they would need the input shaft swapped to interchange.

The '88 is carbed and the '94 is MPFI so not much will swap between the engines, besides putting the 4.0L head on the 4.2L for a performance boost.

i thought the 207 came in the 87 only. it was a bad year i have an 88 sahara and it has a 231 in it. i'm sure. also had that 904 trany in it . thats about all i know for sure.

I had an 88 YJ with an NP231. Apparently the 207 showed up in about half of the 88 YJ's. I reaserched that after thinking I had a 207 and saw my 231.

Back to the question at hand, yeah man keep the extra YJ for parts. Soooo many parts can be used...
