RE: Re: RE: Long Nite- Required Recovery

I'm new with the I6. so i have a few questions to ask if you would please bear with me. i have bought my first jeep for a measly $500 so its a peice. its an 88 YJ sahara. 258 carburated and its been bored over .040" so its been under the knife once already.
i like carbs so i'm looking for a replacement without paying out the arse.its got the bbd carter on it that was stock. i did spend the $14 to rebuild it and its still a peice.what i'm wondering is if the jeting is sufficent for it as is cuz its running a lil lean i think. since its been bored out should i go up a jet size and if so how far? whats stock and where can i find the larger jets to buy them?
thanks for the help and i hope to enjoy wheeling with my new toy when i get it running

Throw it away and buy a weber. Or better yet find a newer 4.0 L . While your at it you probably have the p.o.s. transmission too. If you do it's only a matter of time before it blows.( Been there-done that) If not diconect that stupid little adjustment solenoid on the back of the carb. That and the ecu are most of the problems.

RE: tailgate hinge bushing replacement

Save the money from a Weber and get a Motorcraft 2100 or 2150 in the 1.08 size. Takes a Mr. Gasket carb adapter to bolt it up but it's well worth it. It's reasonably priced and they're the best running I've seen, for the 258.

RE: Tire grooving

i'll have to agree with bounty... i've seen them work well in a lot of conditions

I disagree TC, Fuel injection would be the best choice! that way the motor will stay running in all types of off caimber situations!
just teasing

Motorcraft would be a good choice.. another is offenhousin (sp) makes a manifold for the 258 that will allow you to run a 4 barrel holley, available in JC whitney, IMHO, I would go this route and bolt on a holley truck avenger carb if you want to stay carborated. down side is it is pretty pricey

i just want to say thanks to everyone for the help, i'm currently putting up with the bd till i scaveng a mc2100 outta the bone yard. so far i'm loveing working on my first jeep and cant wait to take it wheeling for the first time.
