infinity.... you pay for the name.
unfortunately they by no means live up to it anymore. such is the way with any audio co. They all have had their hey day. but greed gets the best of em'. the bean counters start cutting corners to save money, sacrificing quality.
sound quality, infinity as a factory option, is ok at best, usually factory crossed over and amplified to match the speaker, any variation such as change in the deck or after market amplification, they aint gonna hang. factory infinity style decks only put a low level signal out. an after market deck will send a high level output to the infinity amps, way too strong of a signal. any distortion becomes magnified as well, being sent to a speaker designed to be ran with much less.
quality doesnt have to expensive, but it is priceless.
consider this, the price of two sets of speakers (since you blew the first pair), could bought a set of mb quarts for that much the first time, and you'de still have kick arse speakers.
for those on a budget,(arent we all), a relatively new americn co. that is on the up and up, is ARC audio, im running them all around ,in my dash and a set of 6x9's in the back, 100 watts to each speaker. the rear x9's sit atop a 12" sub getting 400 watts. i already had the deck and the amp to power all the mid/high range. but for a set of fronts, rears, sub, and sub amp, to get out the door under 6 bills aint bad at all.
no i dont work for ARC, but i do work with a shop that sells em'. unfortunately, for me, with set market pricing, i couldnt get a playa price.
(another thing you get with high end, a warranty, run em till they blow)
