Jeep cherokee xj sport

Hey guys I just recently bought a jeep XJ Cherokee sport and I thought that the rear axle was a Dana 35 but I found out that it was a chrysler 8.25" axle so can someone tell me anything about the Chrysler 8.25" axle?

Its slightly stronger than the dana 35. Theres not much selection for lockers and gears over 410 are a pain to install. I run one it works good i have yet to break an axle where i broke a few dana 35s

i got one under mine. i here they are pretty tuff and you can upgrage them quit a bit. you can get bigger axle shafts you can put a truss on it arb, detroit etc. make a locker i have seen 4.56 gears for them not sure about brakes.

there are two versions, one is I believe a 27 spline shaft, and the other is a 29 spline shaft, the later being stronger and more desirable.

I just tried to get an arb locker for mine three places said it was discontinued for the 29 spline.

Im going with curries 9 inch front and rear in the new year so im not to worried about it now. Thanks though.
