Jeep YJ Sending Unit

When I got my YJ the gas gauge never worked right. I'm pretty sure it's the sending unit but how can I tell what size my tank is? :???:

my gauge didn't work on my 87 yj when i bought it. took apart the dash and cleaned the connections on the plug and the flexible circuit board and it worked fine. just to be sure before you spend money on a new sender , might check it out .

'91 2.5 has a 20gal plastic tank that is limited to 15gal by a fill tube that extends down into the tank. Trim the tube & you will hold 20gal.

Or just remove the inner tube completely... I did that in mine. One time I was running on FUMES, and I filled her up with 21+ gallons!
