Hi

I have a 94 jeep yj and it has been sputtering and backfiring a lot lately.
i have already changed the o2 sensor and it is still doing it. when i first put it in the check engine light turned off and it still sputtered but now the check engine light is still on and i dont know what to do.

i dont have one of those code things the guy that we took it to thought he fixed it but he didnt and every one was saying that it is the o2 sensor but i changed that and it didnt do anything

you have to turn your key on and off a certain amount of ties to get the coeds. search for how to do it because i don;t remember since mine doesn't do codes

i think that i am going to take it to a place and plug it in and then i will tell you what codes it is saying

Ok, now google 94 jeep wrangler trouble codes. It will come up pretty quick.

That's how I used to do my obd1 and obd2 vehicles

ya i did that and 12 is that i havent turned my key 50 times since my computer was reset
15 is my distance sencor or circut
55 is the end of code

hmm, did you disconnect the battery for 15 minutes (or however long it is) to reset the ecu lately? let it get some new codes stored up and then you can check them?

have you checked your throttle position sensor or crank position sensor? i know the tps you can pull it and clean it very easily, its on the throttle body. the cps, i am not real sure of where its located but everyone says that goes bad enough that its in a lot of threads

well i took out the tps but i took out both sensors right next to each other because i didnt know which on it was but when i too one out it was so nasty but the tps was pretty clean and i dont know what this other thing is but its pretty dirty so im going to try and figure out what it is and buy a new one

ok i figured out what the other thing is it is called a idle speed actuator motor (isa) do you think that if this is bad it will do this

I would clean it well.

When you pulled your tps, did you reinstall it at the right settings? On my cherokee, I had to take some readings with an ohm meter to make sure it would read right

one thing to look for is if the exhaust manifold gasket is not leaking, it will also make your engine run erratic.

ok so i changd the tps and the isa and nothing happened but now my codes are 12-15-24-55 so i dont now how my tps is bad because i just put a new one in but i need to figure out where the isa is does anyone know were it is
