Locate your coil, then splice the positive wire and run the wire to the switch inside the cockpit then back again... I did one on my mustang very convenient

and then tell me where you're gonna put the switch...

An interesting idea would be to use a magnetic reed switch on the inside of the dash somewhere...I read about a mod like that. The guy made the kill switch as usual but used a reed switch instead with some relays. When the jeep was shut off the relays would trip causing the reed switch to open...to start the jeep again the guy used a remote entry remote with the guts removed and a small magnet put inside...he brushed the magnet by the place on the dash where the reed switch was...causing it to close and the jeep to start again....sounds like an excellent theft protection idea to me. Works just like a kill switch but is automatic and would be nearly impossible to find. I might do something like that someday but I really don't live in a high car theft area...now if I lived in El Paso or LA I might try that idea.[addsig]

mount the switch under the dash hidden away... just remember which is on and which is off. You will tell when the thing is working when you try to start it and the jeep will just turn over and over and over... never starting.[addsig]

BUT if you just crank and crank a carb'd engine, won't it flood? it'd be good to hook up a switch on the fuel pump on a carb'd motor IMO...[addsig]

Also you can use a smaller switch, harder to find by bad guys. And since you're doing it yourself, you can put it anywhere. Like in the center counsel, on the seat frame or behind the visor. Ok, I'm just throwing out ideas, these may not all work.[addsig]

Ya, you don't want to run the switch from the coil. If you do, the motor will still turn over and pump fuel into the cylinders but there will be no spark. You will flood your engine and fill your exhaust with raw fuel. Run the switch from your fuel pump. You can also run one from your headlights since most vehicles are stolen at night, they won't have any lights if they do get it started.[addsig]

yeah..ok, heres the deal: with good directions, i can pretty much do anything, but for the same of explination, u need to talk to me like im 5. what coil? just tell me what wires to cut into and a picture if ur really nice and im good to go

They actually sell kill switch kits now. I seen some where you wire it into your turn signal so to start it you would have to put your left or right blinker on![addsig]

you could take a series of switches placed in a panel... without labelling on and off... some would be up on... some would be down on.... you could set the series so only you would know how to have your series of switches to turn it on.... weld a closed box around the panel, run in a few dummy wires that run to grounds in different places.... then you have a nice SIMPLY, but confusing to the eye, security kill switch. takes some time to make... but imagine if you've never seen that.... you won't know how to get by it[addsig]

Reggie</BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>I haven't done mine yet since I haven't got my jeep back from the police so I can't really tell you exactly how to do it but here's what I can tell you. If you have a Haynes Auto Manual it might make things a little easier, if not, it's simple. First you have to find the right switch that'll handle the power that is going to run through it so it doesn't burn out possibly causing a fire. Any local autoparts store should be able to give you the proper switch, just tell them it'll be running through the power wire to your fuel pump. Next follow the wires from your fuel tank back as close to the front of your jeep as you can. One of these wires will be the power wire to your fuel pump. If you have a Haynes Auto Manual, it should tell you which color wire it is. If not, you might have to get a test light or a multimeter and try to figure it out with the ignition on and off. Once you have found the proper wire, cut it, splice in some longer wires (don't forget to seal them up as best as possible at the splices) and run them through your firewall and behind the dash. Find a good, inconspicous place to mount the switch that you can easily reach and wire up the switch. Hopefully I'll be getting my jeep back within the next week and it'll be the first thing I'll do. If you need any help, I can let you know how I did mine after it's done.[addsig]

my kill switch sits under the dash and runs to the coil, it is push-button and very simple to operate. I haven't wired it all fancy because I cant recall the last stolen car in my area. Besides anyone with a Jeep like mine can be related to Bif (Back to the Future) No one can ever start my car but me, EVER. Turn the key just right, pump, pump, turm key and pump, its like that. Go out of order and youre flooded or ran out of fuel in the carb bowl.[addsig]
