Lifted TJ...now what?

Well, I finally took the plunge and lifted my 99 TJ. I chose a Skyjacker 4" Single Flex kit and 33" BF Goodrich AT tires. So far I'm very happy with it...except for a noticeable loss in power on the highway.

I recently moved from Los Angeles to South Lake Tahoe as well and this altitude is really working against me. So, given that I'm basically a newbie to all this mechanical stuff, I was hoping that I might get some advice here on what to do next.

What will help restore some of the lost power? I've been reading up on changing the gear ratio to match the new tires. What kind of performance improvement would I see? Any other suggestions. I'm all ears...

Also, if anyone knows a good mechanic in the South Lake Tahoe (or even Carson City) area, please pass along the info...

Thanks so much!

Yeah when I was down in Vegas my Jeep was turd. My air filter was plugged but I noticed a definite lack of power in the upper altitude, especially through Reno... I would change gears and give it a good tune up. I am running 3.07s and I am going to swap to 4.56's or 4.88s... Get a good intake and muffler.

GEARS!

if you do your primary driving on road, 4:56's will be fine for your rig.

That is of course if you have a 6 cyl.

If you have a 4 cyl, I would go to a set of 4:88's

Just elaborating on what Laneiac already posted!

4.88's if its a 4banger 4.56 if its a 4.0
catback, hi flow airfilter

that should work from what I hear I'll be able to tell ya about the re gearing a a few weeks
