locking hubs and differentials

i know this is probably i simple and obvious question to most guys but i dont know it so im going to ask it, if i wanted to lock up my front end with lockers, do i need a locker in my differential or just locking hubs or either or, or what, its always confused me to death so any help and explanations would be more than appreciated, thanks

You would actually need a locker in the differential. Locking hubs just lock the hub to the axle where as a locker in the differential gives u positive traction. If you put a locker in the front you wouldnt need locking hubs if you have the front disconnect axle which came with the jeep as long as u have the locking mechanism hooked up independently from the transfer case http://home.earthlink.net/~stevenschreiber/cabledis.htm or you could do a locking hub conversion http://www.4wd.com/shopwrangler/ProductDetail.asp?ProductSKU=38006 although the hub conversion could probably be done for a fraction of the cost that 4wd wants.
Hope this helps.
