low voltage, help!

85 cj-7 w/258. new everything. charging system will not go above 12 volts. even swapped new 63 amp alt for a new 88 amp, no change. voltage will not rise even when engine is revved. cannot keep battery charged because of this. (new battery, cables, starter, solenoid, and alternator) what can i do?[addsig]

Same thing happened to me. I have an 84 w/258. Check your fuseable link coming off of the solenoid.[addsig]

Somehow it sounds like it might be something other than an alternator problem. If you have a Delco alternator, try checking the 1 pole on the plug in the back of the alternator (small wires) it should be hot with the ignition on.[addsig]
