(In this pic you can see I broke the plastic step up on the driver side, wanted something better anyway)

Im wanting to get a Lift and some nicer tires(Have some BFG's on there right now). But looking for recommendations.

What should come 1st.

O and Hi to everyone!

Welcome to the board. Tell us a little about yourself, location, ect.

Get some quick disconnects. And lose the bumperettes on the edges of the front bumper. Take off the rest of the plastic steps and their brackets.

Nice Tj you got there.

Already done and thx.

Im a 20 soon to be 21 Male from Indianapolis,IN. Few places to have fun out here but not much. Good thing Kentucky is just a few hours away.

Have you checked out www.badlandsoffroad.com that's near to you?

How much you looking to lift? How large of tire do you want? What's your intended use of the jeep, percentage onroad and off and what type of wheelin?

I always recommend letting the jeep grow as your wheelin experience grows. Jeeps are very capable in stock trim, so don't be in a huge hurry to modify as it's easy to get in somewhere over your head.

save your money, just as much fun ( maybe more) driving it stock.

Put a 3 inch lift on it and run 33's or 32's for now. Get a limited slip or locker in the rear and a winch. Rocker guards help to if your going to spend time around rocks.

Add a cheap 2" lift and a set of front swaybar disconnects. That'll get the feet wet and they are do-it-yourself mods that are reasonably priced. You will want to do more, but that would be a good start.

I'm with TwistedCopper on this one... start small.. you can lift 2" with the budget boost, and you can even make your own swaybar disconnects... then go with 31" or so tires... you'll be amazed at what that all just did for you

I grew up at Haspen acres but havnt been in 5-8 years. Looking forward to going back soon.

Ok so a good start wood be...

2 inch Lift
Get me some sway bar disconnects or make em
Bigger tires, any recommendations for tires? (road and offroad use)

Anyone got some links for this stuff? reasonable price?

You got alot of mud around your area right? A 2" lift is going to get old real fast if you spend alot of time in the mud. Go ahead and get at least a 4" suspension to start and you can add a BL if you need more. An SYE will be needed with that much lift. Get as aggressive of a mud tire as you can stand and go from there. The lift and tires should in my opinion be the first step. Building a Jeep to run 38" Swampers requires a setup alot different than building it to run 31" BFGs and different areas of performance will need to be addressed. After the size tire you want is mounted, you can evaluate the other needed mods. Wheeling the factory Jeep is good to get experience and learn what not to do, but once you add a lift and big tires the whole personality of the Jeep is going to change so don't base any hardcore mods on the way it wheels right now.

I hate to say this now but with a 2.5 and a automatic you should stay with 4-5 long arm kit and 33's.
The 2.5 doesnt have the nadd's to push 35's or larger.
Even re-gearing 33's are tough on a 2.5L.
As too tire selection, you need to ask yourself what type of offroading will I be doing and how much on road to off will this jeep be doing as well.
its real cool to have 289$ Micky "T"'s for off roading but it sure sucks to watch them grind away as you drive to and from work, doing OT for 6 months to pay for them.

gotta agree with utah on that one. i stayed with 31's (Bridgestone Dueler Revo's) and stock gears on my '03 4 banger and she does just fine here in the mountains. I'd ditch those factory rims, though, if you're going to do much muddin'. Got mine stuck in a mud hole when she was six days old (driver error, of course) and she nearly shook me silly 'til I could get to a hose (35 mph MAX!). Those things have too many cavities to hold the mud....kinda throws things a little out of balance.

Wow, look at all of us Indiana people on this thread!

Oh, I vote for skidplates. Not really a "mod" but how about an emergency kit (first aid, tools, fire extinguisher, recovery stuff, etc.)?

Wheel the holy hell out of it!

Your common sence will take over and tell you what you need. With all the different mods and difference in opinions here you could go crazy. If you mud alot get the mods that suit muddin. Rocks require different mods. You'll see.
