My aching back! 4" lift kits?

I have a Pro Comp 4" lift in my 92' YJ. Is this quite possibly the worst riding lift kit available? It has absolutely NO ROAD MANNERS to speak of! It rides like a damn tank! I'm considering going back to my other lift, a 2.5" with lift shackles. Hey, at least it rode better! I am also considering a rubicon express spring over with my stock springs. Does anybody know of another 4" lift kit that rides at least decent? I'm not mfg loyal so any lift kit would be considered. Maybe a 3" kit instead? I own several other jeeps and I know they'll never ride like a Cadillac but none of my other jeeps with lifts ride THIS BAD. [addsig]

I hear great thing about the Rubicon Express kits all of them! The SOA is a big lift and is advertised to have a stock ride??? I do not know but this seem real popular all of a sudden! Good luck in your choice! Welcome to jeepzville Tug

procomps 4" springs have a really rough ride if your jeep isnt very heavy, i had my 4" procomp on with my 2.5L engine and i felt every bump there was to feel, but after installing my 350 there was a little more spring sag, and i also switched to the rancho RS9000 gas shocks, the ride is very much improved but i still eventually plan to switch either to a 2.5" spring with a SOA, or a CSC lift, i've installed a RE SOA kit, and also ridden in the same jeep with stock springs, with the stock springs the ride is still a stock ride....however if you use any thing other then a stock spring you cant expect a stock ride.[addsig]

Procomp lifts SUCK.....they are often called Procrap. I hear many complaints about them being super stiff and hard on the back...I bought the skyjacker 4inch lift and am very pleased...the ride is good and almost stock...offroad its great...really soaks up the big bumps too. There are a few things you can do to soften up the ride on your procomp though. One easy thing you can do is loosen all the eye and shackle bolts and put loctite on them then get them "just snug". The loctite will hold the nut on there and your springs will have more freedom to move. Another thing I hear that you can do with the procomp to help is to take the smallest leaf out of the two spring packs in the back....that short leaf doesnt really give you any lift....its just there to make it stiffer. If you do this it will also help to put grease in between the leafs when you put the packs back together. Hope that helps out.[addsig]

ProCrap springs don't compress, period. Install a SOA lift with stock springs, or get 4" springs from Rubicon Express. Skyjacker springs used to sag really bad, don't know if they still do.[addsig]

If price is negotiable, rockkrawler makes a sweet coilover

conversion kit for yj's but its $3000. If your a leave spring

kind of person though old man emu's are soft and the hold

up real well over time. My buddy has a cj and put on yj old

man emu springs with teraflex revolvers, no trackbars too.

This jeep ramps over 1000 on a 30 degree ramp. Works great

on the trail except for one thing. The spring on the front have

bent twice, but he likes them so much he actually carries a spare

top leaf with him.[addsig]

As most people realize when they try to compare the ride of their recently lifted Jeep to the previously stock ride, it occurred to me that I really had no clue what a stock '94 Jeep rode like. My springs had so many curves and bends in them that they could have been used in a high school geometry class. The ride that I was experiencing before the lift was probably worse than the little Power Wheels plastic battery operated Jeeps kids ride. The point here...put on the 4.5" Rubicon Express lift, with SYE and driveshaft, ride is awesome...on and off road. Seems stiffer than my old "stock" springs...then again, most pasta is stiffer than the old springs...after cooking. Good bang for the buck...and complete system. The only extra parts purchased were shock boots and a combination u-joint for the driveshaft at the diff. Total maybe an extra $20. Good luck.[addsig]

quik8slvr!!!! yes you are just the man i need to talk to. im buying the RE SOA kit. and you say you've put one on before? just a couple quick questions... is it truly bolt on? or am i gonna need to find a person who can weld to help me out. also how long did it take. and did you get an SYE and a new driveshaft, if so what kind, and if not how did you get past it? thanks, and anyone else whos had any experience with it feel free to give advice etc.[addsig]

took me 6 hours and you need to weld on ur perches ... drivehaft ,, my rear just had an inch added to it ... then i had to fab a traction bar for the rear and cut out all axle wrap.... it is a great lift

SOA no other way

coils are cool but they don't come on YJs so y put them on later... HEADLIGHTS AND LEAF SPRINGS ,,, thats what makes a YJ

i put one on my buddy's jeep, he had previously had 4" springs so already had a SYE and driveshaft, had to weld on the perches like bigmf said, other then that it was no more difficult then a regular 4" lift kit[addsig]

SOA is the way to go!!! Once again, another benefit to having leaf springs all around. You can get at least 5.5" of lift using your stock springs, and still maintain stock ride and have awesome articulation as well. Flat springs flex better than 'smiley' ones so thats another benefit as well. Hope it goes well for you!!![addsig]

Hey... since we're talking about lifts and all I have a quick question for ya. If I bought a 3" lift SOA will that give me a total of 4"? I'm looking at a 3" lift with 1" shackles (Revolver), but wanted to know your guys's opinion?[addsig]

soa adds like 5 inches of lift. I wouldnt combine a soa with

the revolvers unless you go widers axels or youll have a

very very mean and tippy offcamber lean.[addsig]
