Ok ok ok... My muffler now has holes in it, and i just found out that the only time my exhaust was replaced was in 92-as the previous owner got it stuck out on the beach (in the water) so he replaced a whole bunch of shit... anyway-its time for me to do it with an aftermarket exhaust. Is a glasspack just a muffler? if so that sucks-lol. What should i go with for power? And then what should i go with for sound (i want something that shows off all 4.2liters of my engine. And also-should i go with a full exhaust (headers, midpipe, and catback) first, then an upgraded carb, or carb + catback, then headers? lol-sorry to be a pest, but i'm really lookin forward to a nice sound!![addsig]

i'm lookin to change my exhaust system too..mainly the header, pipes, and catback. I was lookin around for a few days and talking with people and Borja seems to be the way i'm going to go, they say its got more of a throaty sound do it. not exactly "thug" but louder then stock. Check into Borja[addsig]

Borla ;-) I'm thinking borla, but they are expensive... More importantly i need to know what to modify first, exhaust or carb... looking forward to some insight, patiently ;-)[addsig]

get a weber...you get more power with this carb than you would with a new exaust system...i am choocing the weber over a new exhaust system ( even though my muffler got split open on my driveshaft) :) [addsig]

I would do the exhaust first, because your engine is a big air pump and all a new carb is going to do is dump in more air and fuel and it will have no place to go. If you get a nice high flow exhaust first you might notice some gains but you will be more suited for a better carb down the road. That is how I would go about the upgrades any how. Evan[addsig]

it sure does have a place to go....right through all the holes in his exhaust..lol[addsig]

747 - bust a u-joint or two??? Those were parts of the reasons why I'm on my 5th muffler right now. I have a Ravin exhaust on mine now. Nothing special...but sounds nice for $99. Got it at Midas. ...but Borla is nice...expensive, but nice. Probably the last exhaust you'll have to buy. I probably could have bought two by now...some live and learn...sometimes I just live. [addsig]

Shane, whats up bro, I have the SS borla cat back kit, I have two gripes about this system: 1. When I installed it, the bent pipe that goes over the rear axle did not fit, I had to cut like 4 inche off of the end that slides into the muffler itself. 2. That nice chrome tip that the kit comes with, rusted like crazy in about a month. The entire kit is stainless except for the tip. I have bashed this muffler into some real big rocks, it took the beating. Nice sound, little performance gain. Not too loud, very mellow.

If your current exhaust is beat I would do that first. It's tough to tune a carb when the engine is having trouble getting the exhaust out. I had a '95 cherokee that had a bad stock exhaust that I thought i could just let go --- the muffler got so hot on a road trip one time that it burned a hole in the carpet in front of the rear seat.
I've been researching cat-back systems for my '02 TJ -- I think I am going to go with a Banks system. You might want to take a look at them: www.bankspower.com
