Need project Jeep (for fun and educational purposes)

I'm starting my search early so I find what I need. I'm looking for a CJ7 any year, but I'd prefer 84'+. I doesn't have to be great-looking.... I just need the chassis to be in good shape (no rot or bad rust). The engine could be a little rough, but I need it to be fixable. The body's not a concern. I'm looking to spend less than $800. I'll be willing to travel to the states surrounding Illinois. I need this project for the summer, but I'd be able to pick it up in the springtime. Mike,

$800 is not going to get you a very decent vehicle. A rot box in need of a total restoration might be ok for someone who has a lot of experience with Jeeps and gets parts at wholesale cost, but if you're a beginner, you might want to look for something in a little better shape. Trust me, you'll spend more now, but you'll save a lot down the road and you'll have a much better learning experience. HTH[addsig]
