I am thinking about maybe changing the color of my jeep. Is there anywhere on the internet that I could look at some possible colors for my jeep? I looked everywhere and could not find anything. Can someone help me? I have a white hardtop. any suggestions about color of my body? I have black side bars and stainless light guards and grille inserts and chrome hood kit.

the answer could be right in front of you. check microsoft paintbrush, think it is in programs if you dont see a color you like make yor own , print it and go to the paint shop. good shops will have a machine that will copy the color and make you a match. hope this helps...odax

My jeep is in the bodyshop getting repainted as we speak because the idiots that stole it gave it a nice spray paint job. I looked into changing the color (not even really changing it but just changing the shade of blue) and even with the insurance company paying to repaint the whole thing, it still would have cost me around $800. to change colors......this is done properly. When you change colors, remember that for it to look proper, you have to paint the door jams, under the hood, over the lips of the rear where the top sits, the inside of the tailgate, the inside of the doors where your doorskins don't cover, parts of your rollbar where the padding doesn't hide it, ect, ect, ect. More money than it's worth if you ask me. [addsig]

if you like to go wheeling i wouldnt spend a whole lota money on a paint job....changing the color is much more expensive, but if you want to do it there's a whole lot of the interior that needs to be painted...if you're going to change the color and want to save money you should sand/primer the whole thing yourself, then all they have to do is spray it, wetsand, and clearcoat, my friend did this to his wrangler and all together it cost him like $900 he did change colors but his old color was close enough to the new color that all he had to do was the doorjams and the lip that the top sits on.

camo clad seems cool to me....camo tape that wont fade for 5 years guarenteed (sp), wont scratch...and cheaper than paint!![addsig]

blech... changing colors is a PITA...

if you do decide to change colors, have them do all the jambs while they're at it... much better that way... save yourself from doing a project like this...

don't go to maaco... they'll dick you over: (paint chipping off... looks yellow underneath too... they didn't even sand!)

Spend your money on things like a lift, tires, wheels, a paint job will just make you feel bad when your out playing around and scratch it. Just my opinion. Evan[addsig]

When I was in the Gulf, I had my Jeep repainted while I went to Australia on leave (and I got out why?). A
couple of Indian guys I knew (like from India, not America) had a body shop south of where I lived in Bahrain.
Being a third world country things were cheap, but good quality (One of the shops there built the third fastest
mustang in the world).

Anyway, to make a long story short, they sanded the jeep down to metal, fixed the dents, did two coats of
primer, three coats of paint (I picked it out of a PPG paint guide Ford, 97, Dark Torreador), and two coats
of clear coat. They also painted the roll bars black, and painted the bumpers/undercarriage black. Total cost:
~$420US. I left the interior alone because I plan to line it.

When I checked it out, they had done the entire windshield (inside and out), under the hood, the edge of the
body against the door, the edge of the body where the softtop meets the body, and both sides of the tailgate.

Give me a couple hours and I'll scan in the photos and upload em...

Aww hell, I tried to upload em to "Reader Rides", didn't work. Looks like I'll have to start my own website...

Just thinking out loud, but when it comes time to paint a ding, or repair a scratch. White and black are easy to patch and people rarley notice the repair. I had VW with three or four different shades of white and really a person wouldn´t notice, unless it was in just the right light. Been painting scratches on my truck (black) for years, can´t hardly see it. It´s not that way with alot of other colors. Unless you get an exact match, repairs really show up.[addsig]

Yeah, I had never had a vehicle painted before that so I had no idea at the time it was a good deal... I
uploaded the pics to Reader Rides (had to do it one photo at a time) I'll let you guys know when they tell
me they're up...

Yeah, Bahrain had some perks... but it had a few downers also. Terrorists, 125f + 100% humidity, fine grain
sand blowin around all the time, not to mention the police. It was a learning experience. <grin>[addsig]
