Yesterday I bought my first piece of steel for my new bumper. I am building or rather the high school welding class is building me a monster! Starting out with a 46"x long piece of 1/4" x 2" x4" tubing. Cutting it on a 45* angle on both ends leaveing 2" flat end. Rock Crawler Style. Then adding a 2" reciver hitch tube in the center bottom with 2" x 2" Chanel cut on a 45* on either side fro suport. Two heavy duty D-Ring Shackles on the front for recovery points. Two light Tabls on the front out of 2" x 2" Chanel and two more turned back to the jeep. This sould be one Scary bumper. Was going to build it out of 3/16" tubing but the guy said if I would use the 1/4" he would let me have it for 5 bucks so now you know why it is so heavy. I will post some pics as it comes together. I am very excited to get rid of the crome bumper I have now with the little cute rubber returns on each end. Tug  [addsig]

I'd center the receiver tube, top to bottom and left to right, so there is no leverage when pulling from it. Just cut a square hole in both sides, and weld the receiver on both sides.[addsig]

My cousin actually used 2" pipe and filled it with cement then capped the ends for his bottom bar for strength, that was the toughest bumber I had ever seen.............Bullet[addsig]

Someone once told me 4inch well casing makes a great nearly indestructible front bumper...cap the ends and use it as an air tank too hehe.[addsig]
