Offset & backspace

Is there any easy - and accurate - way to determine the offset and backspace on a wheel? I need to order a spare wheel and notice different backspacing (e.g., 3.50, 3.75, 4.00) available for 15x10 wheels like mine, which are those 8-spoke white wheels that used to be popular. I need to know the backspace to calculate offset, right? Is the formula: "1/2 width (i.e., centerline) minus backspace = offset" correct? Once I figure this out, all I have to do is find a source for matching wheels that will also fit a 4.5" bolt pattern diameter. Any info on this subject would be appreciated.[addsig]

easiest way is to break out the ruler.

measure from the flat spot where the bolts go the the inside edge of the rim, that's your backspacing.

The formula for offset you have is correct.[addsig]

But make sure you are using the real width, not just 10"...[addsig]
