Oil pressure?

Does any body know what the oil pressure should be at idle and thru 3400 rpms on a 4.2 with a stock oil pump.[addsig]

I know it's not right, but my 85 cj's always had between 1-5 psi at idle for the 10 years or so I've had it

Usually a good way to check is bottom quarter of the gauge at slow idle with a warm motor, middle of the gauge, at normal cruise RPM, up to top quarter at high RPM. Book calls for 40PSI at 2000 RPM. Things are all a little higher on a cold motor.[addsig]

so when i start er up in the moring and it is at 80 psi it might be a little on the high side, and ooh yeah it (258) really hold 6qrts of oil?

Mine shoots way up to about 40 at idle on a cold start in cold weather, and it will jump to 60 or so iif I'm accelerating while its cold. Once it warms up it generally hovers between 15-20.

mine stays at 40 until it warms up completely, then if i'm idling it stays at 20 if i'm not on the gas at all. then it'll move back up to 40 once i start giving it gas again.[addsig]
