Your YJ has open differentials front and rear from the factory. I think you know what you are asking, but your terminology is wrong. Let us know what it is you're talking about.[addsig]

Hehe, an open diff allows your left and right wheels (on the same axel) to spin independently. When you make a right turn the wheels on the left actually travel a slightly larger distance than the wheels on the right, and the open diff allowes you to do that. You can purchase a locked, or lockable diff that makes both tires spin at the same exact speed, evenly distributing the power over both wheels... I beleive its more commonly used if your jeep is 90%+ for trails and rocks. Chances are you dont have a need for one, but as Bounty said, you have the open diffs. And no, it wouldn't eliminate the need for your vacum lines ;-)[addsig]

A posi-lok cable would eliminate the need for vacuum lines to engage your front axle for 4 wheel drive. Basically, with the posi-lok, you shift into 4x4 and then pull on this lever mounted in the cab which engages the front axle. This is NOT a locker. It's still considered an open differential, just removes some of the error percentage from the failure prone vacuum actuated 4x4 system.
