Painting wheels?

Just curious. I just got some 31's for my TJ that are mounted on stock ZJ wheels. I am gonna get some black steel wheels. However the thought crossed my mind to paint the stock wheels black and yellow. My question I guess is if I paint them and then put a ton of clearcoat on them would the paint hold up for on road use? Or would I really just be wasting my time?

OK, you're new, I understand. These are just a few links I found with a quick 5 minute venture using the "search" feature. ENJOY the "Z"!!!! Use it's features!! There's a bunch of folks here who have been there, done that and it gets really old answering the same things over and over.............as I'm sure it's the same on every other forum. Welcome aboard!!! Enjoy (USE!!!) the site!!

Sounds like a plan to me then. It doesn't take much encouragement to get me going on a project!! Thanx!
No problem heres a pic of before and after my paint job

Is that from one of the links I posted???? Seems familiar!!

Anyway, like I said, use the "search"!!!! Great info and great people here!!!! Glad to see you're one of 'em!!!! Good luck with your wheels. JEEPS RULE!!!!!

I appreciate the info and you guys "bearing with me". I agree there is a lot of good people on this site. Wheels look really good. Better than I thought. I'll post pix of mine after completion. Thanks again.

I did the similar thing to my 97 wrangler and it worked out pretty good. Even the next owner after me liked it.

I'd be curious how the paint holds up. Are you still able to spray wheel cleaner on them and not have the paint come off?
