Sounds like mabye your brake calipers are shot on one side of your jeep.[addsig]

Check your brake lines, you may have a pinch, twist or kink in one of them, When I was a mechanic, in key largo, (just south of miami), this was a common problem we would see on a lot of the lowered cars and trucks which we would get on the used car lot. It may be hard to spot with out removing the lines, but it sounds like a pressure balance problem, possible a bad caliper but if the were working prior, not likely, as it feels normal on a normal stop, Also if you have air in the lines you pedal would drop down quickly and feel normal after a few pumps as the pressure builds back up. If you can,t see anything take it to a brake shop as its not worth killing anything or one over.[addsig]

Same thing happened to my jeep a few weeks ago but it was on the left front. the brake locked up while i was on the trail. Started smoking and it ended up being a shot calliper. now I have to get a new rotor (found a jeep like mine in my schools autotech lab that I'm gettin a guy to yank a rotor for me). [addsig]

wow, idratherbefishing. you were right on . from the start or should i say right after i installed new brake lines i didnot like the way the line on the drivers side "lay " as it came in the wheelwell, but i thought it would last until i had the wheel off again. WRONG.... it did not have a kink but it was restricted enough to cause a problem. went for short drive and it seems to have fixed the problem. thanks again. ......ODAX

YEA, MY KNUCKLES ARE BLOODY . I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY JEEP :-O [addsig]

Glad to see you think you found it, Now one more sugestion take the truck on a empty dry road and put it in reverse, get up to about 10 mph or so and apply brakes hard this will set all "auto adjustments in place" also this will deterimine if you still have a balence issue, as it will show up in reverse more pronounced. Also keep an eye on your new brake lines and pay attention to any signs on wear. good luck glad I could help.[addsig]
