Pray for me

I get bad migraines about once every other month, so bad that I puke and stuff. The first time I had one they scanned my cat to look for blood leaking in my brain. Then just to make sure they gave me a spinal tap which sucked. But nothing turned up, they don't know what causes em. Just keep filling your vicodin prescriptions till it goes away.

i used to get migraines as a child... it just stopped for some reason... right about at the stage i started getting more physical in my everyday activities

sully, i feel wicked bad for you. you're in my thoughts. everyone on this board with medical problems, that sucks wicked bad. It's weird to read all this, it's a reality check to me that we are all real people. I don't know, just when I though of it it was weird.

You'll be fine Sully! no need to worry Bro!!

Now if some one could take care of that pain in the ass I have! I call it the Broad!! JK

So, has anyone heard from Sully? I've been thinking about him since I read this yesterday, and praying really hard, too. I've never belonged to an internet forum where there were so many people like family, and I've only been here a short time. You guys and gals are the greatest! Sully, we miss you already, come back!!!!! I'll keep up with the prayers and positive thoughts for you, bud!!

Re: Paragon SOON . .. Real soon.

I've been worried sick about him too. I am thinking he probably just doesn't feel well enough to come online, poor guy. He is younger than all of us too remember. He probably hasn't had too much serious medical issues yet in life so I can understand why he was so upset over this.

I have you in my prayers Sully until you give us an update and thereafter if need be. When you feel well enough, let us know okay?

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about Sully's problem and I hope all goes well. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers!

But for the other bad headache and migraine sufferers I can relate. I used to get them really badly too. But I went to my doctor who referred me to a specialist. The thing he said was that if you don't follow a normal sleep pattern (like going to bed at 11 and waking up at 7 every day) then you risk headaches. It's completely true, I notice that I only get them when I'm at school staying up studying until the wee hours of the morning, and then waking up for classes after only a few hours of sleep. Also, I had them horribly when I went to Alaska last summer because of the constant daylight. Now I take low dose sleeping pills when I'm under a lot of stress or when I'm not on my normal pattern of sleep.

To sum it up, if your headaches are a problem then see a doctor and see what they can do!!!

I was told it can be brought on by a number of things...stress, certain foods, bad jaw alignment cutting off circulation to your brain, flourescent lighting ect, ect, ect.

First off, I hope you get better Sully. You make great contributions to this board so get well and stick around!

Now to digress a tad.... Craig I'd be real interested to know what exactly about fluorescent lighting they said would cause problems. I'd suspect it'd be the fact that older fluorescent lighting, which used often crumby magnetic ballasts and drove the lamps at a frequency of 60Hz, was what they meant. This is because 60Hz is a frequency which is close to that of the "refresh rate" of our vision, so the flickering, whether it be noticable or not would cause the problem? Luckily with the advances in fluorescent lamps and the modern electronic ballasts which drive the lamps at a frequency of about 2.4 KHz, flickering is a non-issue since our vision cannot refresh anywhere fast enough to notice the lights are turning on and off many many times per second.

Sorry for the digression, but being a big advocate of using fluorescent and other energy efficient kinds of lighting, I'm always interested to if any of the old "cons" of using the technology still apply to modern fluorescents...

I was told by my doctor that is caused by the flickering of the flousescent lighting. I've noticed that when some flourescent lighting gets older wether it's the ballast or the tubes it seems to flicker a lot more noticeably.

I got the mri but I havent gotten my results back. My head doesnt hurt that much right now but that only because I took some vicodin a few hours ago.

Choke question

Sully,

Something to calm you a bit. I went through the same thing you seem to have. Turned out I was grinding my teeth at night mixed with some sinus problems. Dr. fitted me with mouth guard and some clarinex and I've been much better. I wish you all the best and a prayer to go with it.

That must be a relief. At least you know it's nothing serious like a brain tumor. Good luck hope your feeling better.

Sorry to hear about this Sully. I hope you feel better soon.

I had the same problem when I was about 18, ended up just dealing with them by taking the pain medicine and they eventually stopped. Never did get a real answer about what was going on.

Glad to hear the mri came back negitive, but I hope you find out soon whats causing them. As for the pain meds your on and everyone who is taking vicodin, oxi's exct......... please be very careful I have seen so many people that I love and are close to me either end up with a serious drug addiction and some who have died (5 to be exact in the last 3 years) That stuff is wonderful yet dangerous. Im not try ing to sound like a nag or anyones mom but I just wanted to say how I felt. thanks

Excellent point, purp......that's why I'm seeing a pain management specialist for my meds. It's a very structured treatment program and I can only get so much per month. If I veer off the regimen, I'm out of the program to fend for myself. I am addicted to oxycontin, and will be for the rest of my life so long as I stay with the program. One difference though, it's a controlled addiction that is being watched closely by a doctor. I have no fear of "messing up" and being kicked from the program, so I am happy with the treatement. It controls my pain well, I don't have any side effects, and I'm not craving more and more. Some doctors will continually increase the dosage when the patient asks for it, and that is what leads to the serious addictions and overdoses. Those doctors need to have their licenses yanked ASAP!! I've seen the end result of patients of that kind of doctor when I was a paramedic, and it ain't pretty....and it happens all too often. If you have pain, don't go to your regular family doc, ask him(or her) to refer you to a pain management specialist, someone who deals with that type of thing on a day-to-day basis.

Mri came back negative.... :) But we still dont know whats causing the head aches. Thank you all.

I'm so relieved! Sad that you still suffer, but happy I'll still have a late night friend on Jeepz! (Yeah, weird silver lining eh?) Hopefully they will diagnose your illness soon. And be done with it!!
