Question about factory alarm

I HATE alarms!!! they are annoying and serve no useful purpose anyway. A good thief will disabe ti in 30 seconds as everyone walks right by.
Not if it is good system and is installed correctly. Some will even page you.

A good theif will see an L.E.D. or hear a chirp and move on to an easier target.

And by the time you ge to where your car was it will be gone anyway. Alot of good the pager will do you. 30 seconds is all they need to disable most alarms. Even if it takes a minute, you still won't make it in time. Heck, if the blinking light is all it takes to discourage a thief, I can install one for about $2.00 and save a whole lot of money. The remote start/ keyless entry on the other hand works wonders. Every car should come equipped with them.

If you had a stereo system stolen, then after buying a good alarm had the chance to knock the snot out of the idiot that returned for another hit like I did you'd see it the way I do.

I agree a pro car theif could get past the average system, but there are some good ones out there that can stop them. Mine was needed to stop a common punk theif and it did just that. I got some real nice shots in on him too. Never called the law, but when he picked his sorry urine soaked (his own) self up from my gravel driveway he never came back.

[quote=" now I just have to find the #*$&&$ alarm disable wire for the factory alarm. If I lock the doors then shut them it arms itself and the purple/yellow wire isn't it . (I hooked the disarm wire there and it doesn't turn it off). It works great if I don't arm the factory alarm though.[/quote]

You have the right color of wire but as I found there are several with the same color code. For instance the the orange-grey accessory wire in the steering columm the small wire guage one is for the radio and the large wire guage one is for the heater and air conditioning circuits. I found this on my wifes GC when hooking up her remote start system the heater and AC would not come on with the remote start but her stereo did. You might want to check for more wires with the same color code under the drivers panel. If possible trace wire back from alarm module inself.

OK, next question: where is the alarm module located?

You know that is a good question :? The haynes refers to the alarm module in the wiring diagrams but does not actually tell where it is. I was poking around another jeep forum and found there is actually two wires under the driver kick panel that are purple with a yellow tracer. According to the post it tells that both wires will work, perhaps try and find the other one. The alarm is also deactivated by grounding out this wire so make sure that trigger from your remote start unit is a negative one or is relayed accordingly.

Thanks... I'll look for it. The remote start does put out the negative pulse, I must have the wrong wire.
