I have an aftermarket sony system in my 90 yj. all of the sudden the face plate went blank. There was a 5 amp fuse supplying the power. I changed it out with another 5 amp and it seemed to be running ok. but the next morning it cut out again. I tried putting a 25 amp in it and it didn't work. I have no idea whats wrong. any suggestions??[addsig]

Sounds like you have a short circuit... did you install your own system/?? if so take out the radio and make sure there are no wires touching.. even if the speakerwires are crossed it could blow the fuse.. if you didnt install the system bring it back to whoever did it and tell them youre problem. make sure all open wires are covered with electrical tape.[addsig]

I had a similiar problem with the radio in my 95 YJ, the face plate kept blacking out whenever I hit a bump. It took 2 hours and a torn apart dash to fix the problem. Turned out the yellow battery lead was plugged into the front of fuse board using this odd adapter that mounts onto a fuse pin. The fuse had completely burned out, I still can't figure why the radio worked at all with that fuse broke and it wasn't the fuse for the radio, it was for something else, acc or windshield wipers, I can't remember anymore. Very vexing, all I do know is that once I replaced the fuse the radio worked fine and still does.[addsig]
