Right now I've got 33x12.50 tires and my jeep struggles a little. I really wanna regear it soon. What should i choose??? I'm planning on putting 35x12.50s on in the future. I need more power!!!![addsig]

i did my own gear work... its not tough really.... you will be looking at paying about $400 for a new set of gears, front and back. You could get by with just putting them in the back... but as soon as you pull that short shifter, you'll be sorry...very sorry. it should take about an hour, possibly less for each set... so... figure in about $350-$400 plus about two hours of your local mechanic rate unless you decide to do it yourself, which I did effortlessly with NO experience in gears. AJFRANK.... if you have a 2.5, you will surely want the 4.88... if you have a 4.0, especially with the nv4500.. you should be ok with the 4.56.. if i remember correctly, the nv4500 has lower gearing for the lower speeds... and will help with torque.[addsig]

4.88's I put in some about 6 months ago and i love it. See i have a 2.5 so i need all the power i can get. 4.56 is o.k but if you got 35's you will want the 4.88's.[addsig]

if you run your gears and tires respective to how it was stock, you will have a near stock feel in performance. It will cost about $150 PER SET... that's why it will be so much... you need front and back... unless you intend on driving only in 2wd.. then you can just change the back... NOT SUGGESTED[addsig]

AJFRANK...you really have an NV4500. Sweet transmission. Ive just
finished the install on mine. Ive got it on the street with 4.56's
and 37's in the 44 and 30 and the gearing is good. I should
be done with the 9 inch and 44 hi-pinion by the end of feb. let
you know how it is with the 5.13's.

by the way, first gear it the nv4500 is 5.61, nv3550 (stock 00
and newer trannies) is 4.01, gives a lot of extra torque to
spin big tires.[addsig]

Yukon makes the best gears. Ive never seen a set break, either
wheelin or at drag races. Ive seen both richmonds and superior
break pinions but it was 4.56's in a d30. And as far as that goes
i ran superior gears in my 30 with 35's, now 37's but no wheelin,
and have had no problems[addsig]

I've got Yukon gears...only a couple of thousand miles so far...but no probs.
