shaft or joint?

Hey guys,
I'm getting a progressively worse vibe in my driveline somewhere, I grabbed the (CV) driveshaft and shook it and there seems to be play in the slip and not in the u joint. Is there supposed to be play in those CV drivehsafts at all? I would just like to know before I go and change out my ujoints. Thanks!

Just replaced the end ujoint and it still has vibes... crap.

There's play in the slip? I doubt that is a good thing in any way. I always knew them to be pretty tight and precise. Is the shaft a warranty part?

well not alot of play, very little in fact which is normal according to the shaft shop that made it for me. They are checking it out tomorrow morning, there is a warrantee which is still good...

Does yours still have the front axle disconnect? The front driveshafts weren't balanced very well if you did have a disconnect. If you put a locker in the front or your disconnect isn't working you may have a front driveshaft vibration.

I would try and isolate the vibration by removing the front shaft and seeing if it still vibrates. If it does, put the front back in and pull the rear shaft and drive it in front wheel drive and see if it vibrates.

I had one I couldn't find, it turned out to be the rear bearing in the transfer case.
